ANTS is a premier IEEE forum on networking and telecommunications topics. It is the only conference in India, which is financially sponsored by IEEE Communications Society. The distinguishing characteristic of IEEE ANTS is the promotion of an intense dialogue between academia and industry to bridge the gap between academic research, industry initiatives, and governmental policies. This is fostered through panel discussions, keynotes, invited talks, and industry exhibits, where academia is exposed to state-of-the-practice and results from trials and interoperability experiments. The industry, in turn, benefits from exposure to leading-edge research in networking as well as the opportunity to communicate with academic researchers regarding practical problems that require further research.

This year the theme is “Communications for Smart City”. In addition to the myriad of topics mentioned in the list below, special focus will be on accepting papers, which haves special focus on enabling technologies for communications in Smart Cities. As Bhubaneswar is gearing up to build smart city, the theme of the conference will foster an environment for deliberating on different research aspects on the said topic. Authors can submit short (4 pages) and regular (6 pages) papers focusing on (but not limited to) the following thrust areas.

Wireline Networks (including topics such as):
  • Cloud and data center networks
  • Software-Defined Infrastructure (Networks, Storage, and Compute)
  • Core network architectures and protocols
  • Metro and access networks
  • Optical communications and networking
  • High-performance router architectures
  • Heterogeneous Networks
  • Network architectures for the Smart Grid
  • Hybrid wireline-wireless networks
Wireless Networks (including topics such as):
  • 5G and beyond technologies
  • Cellular and broadband wireless networks
  • Ad hoc mobile networks
  • Mobile backhaul networks
  • High altitude networks
  • Mobility models and mobile networks
  • Sensor networks and embedded systems
  • Internet-of-Things (IoT) Networks
  • Cognitive Internet of Things
  • Cognitive radio networking
  • Optical wireless (free space optics)
  • Machine-to-Machine (M2M)
  • Social Network-aware wireless
  • Spectrum issues and requirements
Network Applications and Convergence of IT and Telecom Networks (including topics such as):
  • Software Defined Networks(SDN)
  • SDN as enabling technologies for 5G
  • Network virtualisation
  • Cloud and crowd computing applied to smart City
  • Smart City applications
  • Smart home in Smart City
  • Smart management of Smart City
  • Smartphone networked apps
  • CDN techniques in Smart City
  • Big data and analytics in Smart City
  • Augmented and Virtual Reality
  • Cyber-physical systems and networks
  • M-Health care

After review, all accepted and presented papers, will appear in IEEE Xplore.  There will be a few workshops co-located with the conference. Proposals to organize workshops in-line with the theme and main conference are also encouraged. In addition, those interested in the conference are also encouraged to submit proposals for tutorials and PhD Forum.

Journals Special Issues

Extended version of some accepted papers in the conference will be considered for re-review and inclusion in the following special issues. We are also in touch with few other high quality journals for consideration of extended version of few other papers.

This journal publishes papers involving optical communication networks. Coverage includes network and system technologies; network and system architectures; network access and control; network design, planning, and operation; interworking; and application design for an optical infrastructure.

Indexed in:

Science Citation Index (SCI), Science Citation Index Expanded (SciSearch), SCOPUS, INSPEC, Google Scholar, EBSCO Discovery Service, Academic OneFile, CSA Environmental Sciences, EI-Compendex, Gale,, OCLC, SCImago, Summon by ProQuest

International Journal of Communication Networks and Distributed Systems [IJCNDS]

IJCNDS aims to improve the state-of-the-art of worldwide research in communication networks and distributed systems and to address the various methodologies, tools, techniques, algorithms and results. It is not limited to networking issues in telecommunications; network problems in other application domains such as biological networks, social networks, and chemical networks will also be considered. This feature helps in promoting interdisciplinary research in these areas.
